Congratulations to Club President Stanley Turkington and his team who formed part of the squad that broke the Guinness World Record for Human Mattress Dominoes. The event was organised by Barry McGuinness of Home Furnishing Solutions and all sponsorship and donations collected were donated to Marie Cure Cancer Care.
The Dungannon total of 145 meant that New Zealand no longer hold the world record. In Stanley’s team were two New Zealanders who are spending the year working as exchange scholars at The Royal School. The Kiwis, Darren and Rhys are determined to organise an event in their home land in 2010 to recover the record for New Zealand.
Stanley said that was a great effort and admitted that when he was knocked backwards by the mattress man in front it was the hardest he had been hit since he played in the Forster Cup Final eight years ago. “Great fun and all credit to Barry McGuinness for taking on the job of organising the event.”
Stanley was supported by Darren Gerretzen, Rhys Harre Dodd, Wallace McKay, Garrett O’Donnell, Brian Simpson, Clive Whylie and David Wishart.
