The current and former players and all the members of Dungannon Rugby Club lost a dear friend after the death of Betty Walker on 4th September. For many years but especially during the opening ten years of the All Ireland League Betty was a treasure appreciated by all the players as she kept them nourished after training and provided special ‘treats’ on those long away journeys to Cork and Limerick. The boys affectionately christened her ‘Mawa’ and took her to their hearts. Betty had a kindly nature and was always willing to help if she could. Though not in the best of health over the past couple of years she always had a cheery greeting for all throughout that period and she will long be remembered at Stevenson Park as a real lady and a true friend to all who knew her.
We express our sympathy to Harold on his loss and also to Susanne, Keith and their families.
