Stockholm Tens

Stockholm Tens
Dungannon made a successful return to the Stockholm Tens on the weekend of 27th/28th July reaching the semi-finals of the main competition only to lose out to the reigning champions of four years Olurun Sharks. This was a big improvement on last year when the team reached the semi-finals of the plate competition.

The team won each of their pool games on the Saturday by impressive margins dispatching Linklaters RFC from England (41-7) and local teams Linkoping (52-0) and Presidents Select (46-12).

The team returned fresh on the Sunday for the quarter-final against Dudley Kingswinford RFC from England and won by a margin of 43 points to nil. And so onto the semi-final were they met the current holders of the mens competition and a team they had met last year at the pool stages. Up against a team of semi-professional and professional players from National League One in England the team acquited themselves well but eventually went down 26 points to nil. Had it not been for the quality of the opposition they would certainly have troubled the scoreboard on more than one occasion. The Sharks went to lose to Wooden Spoon in the final 22-15.

A excellent performance by the team and a succesful and enjoyable trip which was well organised and led by Andrew Hughes, in his last act in a Dungannon jersey, who was ably assisted by Paul Magee. Thanks are also due to big SImon McCarroll who put in some great work in a non-playing capacity which ensured the team never went without.
