Kukri Sportswear Under 20 Carrick Sevens
Mark Henderson’s Under 20 squad won the Everest Cup as winners of the Kukri sponsored Under 20 competition at the Carrick sevens.
In the first pool game Dungannon beat a strong Queen’s team by 24-17 with tries from Mark Riddell, Andrew Gardner, Angus Taavo and Mark Atkinson.
The second game against Ophir had a 68-0 score line. Try scorers were Mark Riddell (2), Angus Taavo, Andrew Gardner, Adam Booth (2), Mark Atkinson (3), David Irwin and Wayne Burrows.
Against Grosvenor the boys won 56-0 with tries from Mark Atkinson (2), Mark Riddell (2), David Irwin, Toby Kennedy (2), Andrew Gardner and Angus Taavo.
In the semi final Dungannon met the pre tournament favourites Bridgend College. This was a great game of sevens with Dungannon winning 22-10 thanks to scores from Angus, Mark Atkinson, Mark Riddell and Paul Pritchard.
The final was another fine contest with Dungannon winning thanks to a last second score by Paul Pritchard. Dungannon had scored tries through Mark Riddell and Angus Taavo but were 12-10 down to Malone when Angus Taavo started a move from his try line that ended with Paul Pritchard touching down and converting at the other end leaving the final score 17-12 and the J Everest Cup on its way to Stevenson Park.
Many congratulations to Angus Taavo who was the winner of the player of the tournament award
The squad captained by Mark Riddell was Angus Taavo, Andrew Gardner, Adam Booth, David Irwin, Toby Kennedy, Wayne Burrows, Mark Atkinson, Yamika Banda and Paul Pritchard.
