| Fun day for all at Stevenson Park |
| |
‘Well come on everybody and let's get together’ as the song went; have a fun day at Stevenson Park.
‘Sponsored Marathon Relay and Club Fun Day’
Saturday the 21st of August 2010 Starting at Noon.
The event is designed to bring club members of all ages to have a Fun Day at Stevenson Park. Something for all the family from minis to grand parents, from young athletes to Grey aka ‘Golden’ oldies.
Volunteers and conscripts from various levels within the Club are taking part in a unique Sponsored Relay Marathon. They will be supported by family and friends who are warmly welcomed to Stevenson Park.
As well as the entertainment of the relay run there will be lots of ‘Fun’ activities including Bouncy Castles, Sumo Wrestling, Assault Course, Bucking Bronco and much more.
To help fuel the recreation and relaxation there will be burgers and sausages on the barbeque, ice cream from the van and refreshments from the bar.
We are hoping that the marathon relay will help to raise much needed funds for the Club through sponsorship of the relay runners taking part.
The relay itself will take place within the boundaries of Stevenson Park and will be staged in 4 categories namely Mini, Youth, Golden Oldies and Friends, and Senior Players.
The relay will be run in teams of five and each team member will run laps in relay order until the full number of laps has been achieved e.g. if the target is 25 laps then each runner will run 5 laps, speed will be dictated by the level of fitness!
The time table is detailed below and the ‘off marathon’ entertainment will run in tandem with the relays.
11.30 - Team ‘sign in’
12.00 - Mini team relay (15 laps)
13.00 - Youth team relay (25 laps)
13.45 - Golden Oldies Alicadoo’s Family & Friends (15 laps)
14.30 - Senior Players teams (50 laps)
Our esteemed Patron Mr Bobbie Mills will fire the gun to start the first relay run at 12 noon.
We are hoping to see a big turn-out in the ‘Golden Oldies’ category when the general committee, alicadoos, past players, parents, members and their friends will get the chance to take part – even if it’s only one lap.
We are also looking forward to seeing the club’s 2010/11 senior players take part in the big 50 lap relay. They have been training since the 14th of July under the tutelage of our new Director of Rugby Justin Fitzpatrick and his team. We wish Justin, his coaching and back-up staff and the players all the best for the incoming season.
This will be the first ‘Club Day’ event when members of the club - young and old, will be invited to join together for a fun day with the purpose of bringing members and friends and family together to enjoy the facilities and friendship that is Dungannon Football Club.
Our Club President Stanley Turkington hopes that this will set the scene for a successful season and invites you all to come along and if possible -- bring a friend.
Any Member who has not yet got a Sponsor Form please contact the Chairman on 07801136767 or pick one up from Harold at the Club.
Victor Scarlett
Club Chairman
