Message from Club President, David Millar
I am delighted to have been elected President of Dungannon Rugby Club and have always enjoyed time spent at Dungannon, both playing and alecadooing; I look forward to supporting all our teams. I do hope I have as good a season as last year’s President, Fred McManus, who had a great year and ably carried out his duties, accompanied by his inimitable sense of humour.

I played for Dungannon during the 1970s; I also was a member of the Ulster Squad during that same period. After Dungannon won the Ulster Senior Cup in 1976 I went on to captain their first major tour to America and Canada and later toured in 1984 to Kenya as both player and alecadoo. I have had the privilege of playing rugby in thirteen countries (unlucky for some!).
As the new season approaches, I would like to warmly welcome John Andrews as Head Coach, ably assisted by former International Jonny Bell as Backs’ Coach and Ulster Juniors’ Coach, Clive Bowles, as analyst and technical support.
We were voted Ulster Club of the Year for 2006/2007 and I am sure this will be an inspiration for the forthcoming season. A party of players and alecadoos, from throughout the club, had an enjoyable ten-a-side tournament in Stockholm at the end of July 2007.
Congratulations to Stephen Ferris on being selected for the Irish 30 man squad going to play in the World Cup in France this autumn.
This fixtures book comes with thanks to all our advertisers, who paid the production cost of the book, and once again to Allan Buchanan for compiling the fixtures.
Dungannon clubhouse is not just a rugby club, it is a local community centre with facilities available and used by charities, clubs and associations. The friendly, comfortable clubhouse is open to members and their friends, Monday to Saturday each week. New members and visitors are welcome. I must thank our main sponsor First Trust Bank and all our other sponsors for their continued support; I commend them to our members. We really appreciate your patronage, without it we could not maintain our high standards. (Tom Morrow sponsor of President’s blazer.)
It always gives me great pleasure to watch all our teams play. To the players I say, train hard, play hard, enjoy your time both on and off the pitch and value old and new friendships as many, hopefully, will last a lifetime. I wish John and his coaches all good luck for the season which we are all looking forward to.
